Sunday, February 1, 10:30 am — Guided tour at the Barockbaumeister Museum Au
In Au in the Bregenzerwald, Michael Beer founded the Guild of Au in 1657. Its members planned and constructed around 800 Baroque buildings throughout Central Europe until the 1780s. How did the guild come to be founded in this remote village? Who was responsible for training the planners and builders? How was the guild organized? How did the village change during a time when the men spent more than half the year working on construction sites and the women managed at home on their own? The Baroque Master Builders Museum in Au explores these questions in four thematic sections.
